Dr. Neilson distributed a copy of proposed revisions to the undergraduate catalog and described the changes. The impact of some of these changes on STARS was discussed. The Committee is charged with providing the Provost with a management report April 1 that is to include estimates of the time required to make changes to STARS, other ramifications of the proposed changes, and any other unexpected consequences.
Phyllis Berk and the STARS team were asked to provide answers to the following questions:
Mary Beth was asked to review the effect of some of the changes on the 10th day reporting structure.
Maryanne Ivey reported that the budget process has been defined and the three job positions posted. Phyllis Berk reported that the tables have been defined in Sybase and the program installed on the RISC 6000. Remaining step is to link the Unix and mainframe computers.
The committee was reminded that we must develop a plan for ongoing administration of DARS by the end of year 2 since the positions end at three years.
Mary Beth Adams reported that the members of the group are compiling information regarding requests received, tools used, standard reports, and response time for requests. The results will be reported at the next meeting.
Phyllis Berk reported that all the changes have been made and that they are in the testing mode. This is a complex process designed to simulate real operations. Target implementation remains May.
Maryanne Ivey requested that we name a person to represent UAB to a system level committee to discuss implementing SPEEDE. Ramsey Scott was suggested as the logical person at this stage.
EPOS project is done. Students will be able to register using the web starting March 23. The faculty web project has been put on hold.
